Living by the Sun:- Energizing and Empowering

We all have masculine and feminine energy, the way these balance themselves, is different for everyone. Some people are in more of a rush to go and push the boundaries and hardly stop and take a moment to check themselves. Others take a rest and slow down, knowing there are gains from taking care of themselves. You will find that a fast-paced lifestyle is more often our reality. Being part of the workforce is a rush - powered by adrenaline. It is also run by the sun, meaning if the sun is rising so should you.

Working with the Sun

The best way to enjoy the energy of the sun, is to wake with the sun. Waking as the sun rises is a lot easier this time of year. The sun’s cycle is 24 hours. Every day, the sun will always rise. As the year carries on, how the sun rises changes how you can take on the energy, the yang energy, the masculine part of the day. 

Day = Masculine (Yang)

Night = Feminine (Yin)

As Spring comes, we feel a shift energetically in ourselves. Coming out of hibernation and stepping into a part of ourselves, that is raring to get out and go. Days become longer and easier to tackle. The rising of the sun becomes earlier, so you find early mornings easier.

Spring + Summer (yang)

The Sun is out, and work begins to become easier. outside and inside. You spring clean. You launch new adventures. You can work harder, because you have more energy, and still have time in the evenings to socialise. This is the time we need to focus on our goals. The things we set at the beginning of the year can now start to make progress. 

New routines can be formed with new seasons. Perhaps you rise earlier and introduce a morning run or walk into your daily routine. You work on the garden, and you eat lighter food again. Spring feels like lightness, as more sun comes into your day, and you can breathe in the fresh air.

As Summer rolls in, the energy increases, and you can conquer your work out. Summer can be one of the busiest seasons of life, lots to do, long days. Although you may feel the energy of the sun carrying you through the season, having the heat of the summer and rush of travels, can leave you burnt out.

Making routines that support the hazy days of Summer, can really support this time. Balance working with playing and resting when you can and allowing space for yourself. Heat can get to you and as you make your way into August and September, you should begin to slow down and take time to prepare for the restful months of the winter.

Autumn + Winter (yin)

Some love the shift from Summer to Autumn, as evenings become cosy and longer. Whatever you enjoy, Autumn is a time to look more inward and begin to rest more. The energy becomes slower once again and routines shift.  When making your routine after the heat subsides, you can focus on making sure that there are meals ready to warm up in the fridge, more blankets to have at hand and maybe the work that happens is more computer based or just slower. You take a little more time in the morning to wake up.

Prepare for the winter months by making food for the freezer or testing out warming recipes. Like in Spring, clean the house once again and give it a once over to make the cold months easier.

Winter can be very fast paced at the beginning; nevertheless, is where we can really slow down. Once the Solstice occurs, you can begin to consider your aspirations and intentions for the Spring ahead. Your movement may be slower, and you may rest more. Set time aside for yourself, maybe more cosy hobbies and crafts part of your routine. You may find that you want more time for yourself and less for socialising. Hibernation becomes more important, but when the Winter sun comes out, take the time to appreciate it.

Although life can bring us swings and roundabouts, when you try to explore the cycles of nature, you can begin to feel more balanced and more energised than ever by the sun.
